LIFE AND GOD

God is in ultimate control, but we each have our independent wills and roles in all the tests, triumphs, and choices of life. God’s purposes include your efforts. You can choose to rust and not shine. You decide whether you turn out to be the hero of your own life. As contradictory as it may sometimes seem, God’s ordained cycles of the events of life go on (Job 42:1-6). The demand and invitation of life to you is - learn how to live with the hills and valleys, the laughter and the tears. Time is the school in which we learn about life; and the best teacher is the Author of life – God. We learn as we go. Ask God for wisdom if you regularly do not catch the lessons as they happen (James 1:5).

There are some lessons over time that put the Master’s keys into our hands for the journey of a lifetime. One such key is the strength Christ gives us to face anything (Phil 4:13). Another key to life is to do what is right and good in the sight of God (2 Chron 31:20). Perhaps the most important key is to respect and obey God. In these ways, we learn to keep a proper attitude towards life and God. This is what life is all about (Eccl 12:13). Not a million do’s and don’ts; just core truths from which to actively grow a real and close relationship with Christ (John 15:4) as you travel through life.

Many of the ways of God are often beyond our comprehension. We do not know why God allows us to go through what we do in this life. We face all kinds of clashing and harsh circumstances and conditions. There are frustrating and often seemingly un-necessary happenings in life. Many things in life seem unfair. On the other hand, we experience the simple joys of life like a sleep full of pleasant dreams, the breath to wait and hope, the treasure of loving and feeling loved.

Interestingly, people who pray and have fellowship with God learn about God and understand his point of view on the many matters that cause us distress or wonder. We should not pass judgment on what we do not understand. Certainly, we should refrain from criticising Him for his dealings with us or with others. God is not only in control of the universe and all its facets but also of our lives, and he loves us. Life is indeed a gift from God (Eccl 2:24). Make the most of every opportunity, this natural life offers. And in your innermost being - your spirit - may you freely do your best to know Christ, the giver of life (Phil 3:10). Now that journey of discovery about Life and God is worth living for!!

If you are living a life that is empty and without meaning and want God’s help, just audibly say, "Jesus Christ, I need a change in my life and I believe you are the one who can make a difference in my life. Help me to live a life with purpose and contentment."
